January Snow Storm

We got the first big snow storm of the winter today. We've had snow a couple of times, maybe an inch or two, but nothing worth measuring. It snowed most of the day and we got about 8 inches.

It started snowing during the night and came down most of the day, finally stopping around 4 pm, so Ryan went out to shovel.

I'm glad it was Saturday, so my family didn't have to go to work or drive anywhere.

This was more of a spring snow, it was wet and heavy. January snow in Colorado is usually light and fluffy.

I was glad Ryan wanted to shovel and did it without being asked. The tree on the Volesky's side of our house has gotten so big that most of the driveway and into the street is in the shade and it takes a long time to melt if it doesn't get shoveled.

Delwyn went out to give Ryan some help.

We clear off the driveway and then we

drive the cars out into the middle of the cul-de-sac to brush them off.

This tree is in the back yard. The branches are really loaded down because the snow is so heavy.

I like to look at the patio table to see how much snow has accumulated. The front yard seems to drift onto the porch and it's hard to get a feel for how much snow there is. We need moisture, it's Saturday, so it was a good day for snow.
