New Year's Eve

The Bellum's invited us to a New Year's Eve party, but I just wasn't in the mood to go and socialize, which really isn't like me, especially on New Year's Eve! I love to eat good food, play games, and ring in the New Year. We've gone to the Brown's twice in the last few years and both times were really fun. Ryan went to Chicago yesterday to spend some time with Adrienne and her family and Denya went back to Utah at the same time, so I didn't have any kids here. The married boys and their families don't stay up until midnight, so it was just Delwyn and I. Delwyn is not a party person, so I think he was happy when I said I just wanted to stay home.

I've made a couple of batches of caramel and chocolate covered pretzel rods and I had some cream left, so I made some more. I love these things and we eat them up mighty quick! They take quite a bit of time to make, so that's what I did tonight. We watched the ball drop in New York and had a quiet night at home. We did stay up until midnight--no one can accuse us of being party poopers! Good-bye 2022! Happy New Year!!

Fall Random Pictures Because These Kids are So Cute I Take a Ton of Pictures!

Lincoln the ninja!

I can't even remember where we got a big box, but these two played in it all afternoon, making a house complete with beds and pretending to sleep.

Megan curled Dagny's hair for picture day--so cute!!

The side view. Dagny has beautiful hair! It's so thick and has some good body to it. Her hair is so thick, you have to use one of the big grown up runner bands and only wrap it twice. Lucky girl!

We had a volunteer pumpkin plant come up on the side yard by the basketball hoop. Delwyn watered it when he watered the chickens, and we ended up with a pumpkin! It was a pretty good size and Lincoln has been so excited to pick it! It was finally ready! It was fun to watch it grow and change throughout the summer. It might be a fun to grow a couple of pumpkins and see if they would get big enough to carve (I think this one was big enough!), but they take up so much room. The vines just go everywhere!

Lincoln lost his first tooth!

Lincoln loves to color! Such a big change for him, he was never interested in it before. He was so proud of his picture! He is so good at staying in the lines and does a great job!

Calista has always loved dolls! She had a blast brushing her pretend hair!

Delwyn has been telling Lincoln about Lincoln logs for a couple of weeks. One day he finally got them out and they built some cabins together. Lincoln got such a kick out of the fact that they have the same name as him.

Austin bought a motorcycle in August! Quite often he rides it over here for Sunday dinner and takes his kids for rides. They love it as much as he does!

Smiles from everyone!

Landon rides this bike of Delwyn's and takes his kids. Wade rode this motorcycle to work a lot during the summer. The Palmer family is a motorcycle family!

Cousin time! Dagny loves to take care of Everlee, and is so good to always share with her and play with her. I am soooo happy these cousins are growing up together!

We were outside playing one fall day, and Calista wanted to sunbathe. She got this little kitchen towel to lay on and soaked up the sun!  Where do they learn these things??

One day at Story time the theme was construction workers and the librarians gave all the kids a hard hat! I love our library! I have memories of taking my own kids to story time and I'm continuing the tradition with the grandkids. Melissa and I usually go together on Tuesdays and then she comes over for lunch, and stays to visit until it's time to pick up the older kids from school. My favorite day of the week!

Calista loves this puzzle board and plays with it almost every time we go to the library!

More fun at the library. There are two rocking chairs, the other one is smaller, but Everlee likes this big one.

I'm not sure if this is a horse or a dinosaur or what, but it's fun to rock on.

Calista learned to pedal several months ago and she loves to ride bikes! It took some of the grandkids awhile to learn to pedal, my kids all learned pretty quickly and at a young age. I was very excited when Calista could do it!

Not sure if Lincoln was making goggles or binoculars, but so creative!

I love the way he taped them to his head! Kids have the best imaginations!

Dagny and Calista doing some yoga!!

Calista loves to check the eggs and asks almost everyday if we can do it.

Lincoln the farmer! He found this cowboy down the basement and wore it all day.

He made himself a house using all my fall decor that I had on the piano.

Lincoln lost another tooth! It happened at school and they gave him a baggie to put it in.

I was going through the tubs of Halloween costumes and Dagny fell in love with the cheerleader costume and wanted to try it on, so then Calista wanted to wear a costume too. She chose the ninja turtle, but the pants were too big.

It brought back a lot of memories looking at these costumes. I had so much fun sewing them back in the day.

One day these kids put some towels in the bottom of the tub and were playing. Doesn't sound very fun to me, the tub is hard!! And towels aren't very soft! Crazy kids!

Kids like playing on the stairs too for some reason. All cuddled up with their blankets and pretending it's night time.

Maddie and Calista love to play together. I watched Maddie and Emma one day while Melissa went on a field trip with Millie, and they were so happy to have so much time together. Coloring and cutting!  What more could a kid want?

They get along really well and rarely fight. I know I say this all the time, but I just love watching these cousins play and grow up together. One of my biggest blessings is having some of my kids close to me and being able to be a big part of my grandkid's lives.

They look a lot alike with their blonde hair and blue eyes. I have a feeling Calista will really miss Maddie next fall when she goes to kindergarten.

Kitchen towels make great super hero capes in case you were wondering

Lucky Dagny getting love and snuggles from Everlee!

A few minutes later and Everlee was sound asleep!

The library had a Forest of Trees event where several Christmas trees were decorated using books for a theme. It was so fun to walk and see them all! There were probably 25 trees!! This one is the "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

A Harry Potter tree!

A candy tree!! Dagny was wishing it was real candy! Some other trees were a western one with cowboy gear, Arthur, the Cat in the Hat, Curious George, and many more!

One day when everyone was here I got out some of the Legos the boys had when they were kids. They played for hours!

Claire and Lincoln worked together to make a fort for their Lego people to hide out in.

We went to Austin's ward to watch their Primary Program and Landon and his kids came too. Austin teaches Primary and he had all of these kids in his class today! Cousin church time!

More playing on the steps with her doll. One of her favorite things to do, this girl is so, so sweet.

Dagny was pretending to be a caroler. Getting in the Christmas spirit!

We never have enough time to chime during the holidays, so one Sunday in early December after dinner we made some beautiful music. The kids are getting old enough now that they are pretty good at it!

For Dagny's birthday, her family went to Build A Bear and she chose this rainbow unicorn. She was so excited to show me,

and of course Lincoln got a Pikachu.

For Christmas Santa brought me some new Play Doh toys. It makes cupcakes, ice cream, hamburgers, and all kinds of food.

It came with so many colors of Play Doh! Dagny and Lincoln played restaurant. They came around and took orders, went back and made the food, and then delivered it. They were so creative and so cute and played for a couple of hours.

This is a long post! But these kids are so cute and they make my life so rich and enjoyable! I want to revel in every minute because they are growing up fast! I am one lucky grandma!!
