We thought we had to wait one year to do Blake's temple work, but Jeff Coy checked into it and found out that with a little work (letters from the Bishop and Stake President), we could do it sooner. Jeff was so wonderful to get everything in place for us, and we were so grateful for his efforts. Austin found some cheap flights, and so this is the day!! Savannah is here also to share in this special occasion.
Austin has had some strong promptings that we should take some family names to the temple with us today. I'm sure some of our ancestors and Blake have been working together to make this happen. Austin did some research and has several names ready. Yesterday Austin, Melissa, Britta, and Savannah went to the temple and did the baptisms and initiatory work.
It was a rainy, chilly day.
Several people from the ward joined us for the session and we felt very loved and cared about. Britta, Ryan, and Savannah did baptisms, so we were all in the temple.
I went to the temple with no expectations because I didn't want to be disappointed. I knew we may or may not sense Blake was there. It was very humbling tor me to feel his presence twice. Just before the movie started, I felt an arm around my shoulders It was very brief, and only lasted about ten seconds, but I am sure it was him. Delwyn and I had talked before the session that he and Denya would participate in the prayer circle. We felt that Blake would like that. As those who wanted to join the circle were walking to the front, Jeff Coy nodded to me that he would come up if I wanted to, so I did. During the prayer I sensed him standing just outside the circle to my right. I am sure Blake is excited this day to have his temple work done. I am extra grateful today to know that we are a forever family and I am so thankful for the blessings of the temple.
Karen Huber watched the grandkids for us. We picked them up, ordered pizza, and went home to eat it. Megan had a flight to California and couldn't stay long. Her Dad has been in the hospital with a ruptured appendix, so she is taking a quick trip to see him. The rest of us spent the day together just enjoying being a family. I feel very blessed to have this family and I am happy that we have such good relationships with each other. It was a good day.
