Coloring eggs is one of my favorite things about Easter and I'm so glad that Landon's family comes over here to do it with us.
Dangy was so excited! I don't think she remembered from last year, so I showed her some pictures and she could hardly wait to start. She was so gentle and careful with the eggs. Of course her first one was pink!
She was happy to show it off and let me take her picture.
She loved each one of her eggs!
Lincoln would just plop his eggs into the cups and luckily none of the them broke.
What a sweet face! He had so much fun!
Dagny did a lot of her eggs pink. No surprise.
Some pretty eggs in that carton.
Ryan thought I was taking too many pictures, and threatened to shoot a rubber band at me.
He let it go! I didn't think he really would. Good thing he missed me and the camera!
Our masterpieces! They turned out so pretty and vibrant!
Take a bite! Oh wait, we have to peel them first.
Cute family.
Eggs for eyes! We do this pose every year, a throwback to Landon's childhood.
Our eggs are all so pretty!
The Easter Bunny loves teenagers just as much as he loves little kids. Some pretty fancy ties! The Easter bunny always hides the baskets in places like in the oven, behind the curtains, in the china hutch. Ryan wanted his to be extra hard this year. There is a flap of fabric that lifts up behind the recliner and that's where Ryan's basket was. It did take him a long time to find it.
I wanted to take a picture of Ryan wearing one of his new ties and of course he wasn't very cooperative, he just wanted to lounge on the couch. At least I got a smiling face.
The Coys brought us this beautiful Easter lily. So thoughtful of them.
Ready for the egg hunt in the back yard! Ready, set, go!
There were 10 eggs for each person.
Millie finds a blue one!
Claire shows off her collection of eggs.
Millie had such a cute basket! I loved the fabric, it was so colorful.
The kids had so much fun finding the eggs.
Lincoln's basket was a ladybug.
Sampling some of the candy that was inside the eggs. Yum!
I made these sleepings bags for stuffed animals for each of the grandkids. They were so fun to make. This is a picture of one next to Dagny's kindle for size reference.
The whole collection!
I didn't give Calista a sleeping bag since she is so little, but she loved her dog!
And Maddie loved her cat!
Lincoln was so gentle with his and carried it around so carefully. This picture is just adorable.
Snuggling on the couch and watching Dagny's showpad with their animals.
We got some new baby chicks, so Delwyn brought them in the house so the kids could see them. Millie especially loves animals and wanted to be first.
Lincoln loves the chickens and when we play in the backyard, he always wants to go see the chickens and he likes to feed them long blades of grass. If you hold the grass just above their heads, they will jump up to get it and Lincoln laughs and laughs.
Grandpa gives Calista some love. Who could resist that cute face and big, bright eyes?!
Melissa made matching dresses for the girls and they turned out so, so cute! She is turning into a fabulous seamstress.
There's nothing like a sister!
Adorable!!
Austin likes to take family pictures on Easter. What a beautiful family!
Remembering Blake. He loved all the holidays and I sure miss his fun personality. He got a kick out of dying eggs and hunting for his Easter basket. After he visited Savannah one Easter, he told me he was thankful for the traditions we had, as her family didn't have any.
When we were working with Mile High Memorial to get Blake's headstone, somehow it came up that Blake's name was spelled wrong on the temporary marker the cemetery made, so they made us this stone to use while the permanent one was being made. It was so sweet of them! When the headstone was finished, we brought this one home and put it in the flower garden. I want to plant some star gazer lilies around it since they were Blake's favorite flower. I've had a hard time finding any. Last fall, Wade and Kimberlea planted some hyacinth bulbs and look how pretty they are!
They are so bright and colorful and a nice welcome to spring. I love them!
I still want to plant some star gazer lilies, there is room for both.
The Easter activities are so much fun, but I hope we always remember the real reason for Easter. I read 2 posts on Facebook this season that made me ponder a little more than I usually do on why we celebrate Easter. Jesus Christ suffered for all our sins, as well as all of our hurts and disappointments. I know people who are going through a divorce, someone struggling with cancer, a father in our ward lost his job, people like Dad who have hard illnesses to bear, my own heartache of losing Blake. Think of all these things and more, for all mankind, what a lot of hurt that is. No wonder He bled at every pore. Yet Christ willingly took it on so He could know how to comfort us and help us. What a great love He has for us!
The other thought had to do with being resurrected and being restored to our perfect form. No more diabetes, absence seizures, Dad can walk, no weight struggles, or glasses. What an amazing thing to look forward to! I want to be the best I can and serve others will all my might so I will be able to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ forever.
