Shanna's Birthday

Delwyn was out of town for my birthday, so the kids wanted to surprise me.  On Monday there was no school because it was Martin Luther King Day.  They wanted me to take them to the store and then I had to stay in the car so I wouldn't see what they were buying. They both babysit quite a bit, so they have their own money.  I was touched they wanted to spend it on me.  Britta bought me a singing card.  I have never had one before.  When I opened it and the music started, I was so surprised I droppd the card!  Inside was a heart necklace with the word "Mom" inside the heart.

They made me go on a treasure hunt for my gifts. Sometimes we do that for their birthdays. They didn't make clues, we just played hot and cold.
Blake and Ryan got me a set of three frying pans.  Maybe they are hinting I need to do more cooking.

Britta made me a rice bag.  She has been secretly sewing down in her room for a couple of days.
Denya gave me a book for my birthday when she was home for Christmas.  It is called "House on the Hill" and is a historical fiction story about the building of the Logan Temple.  The author came to her English class last semester and talked about writing.  The Logan Temple is special to me because that is where I took out my endowments.  I wasn't supposed to read it until my birthday, but I couldn't resist.   I have read a few chapters and I am really liking it.
Terri Nevarrez brought me the chocolate cake and Sherrie Chadderdon brought the white one.  I have great friends!  I also went out to lunch today with my primary presidency.  Three of us have January birthdays and we like to celebrate together.  This year we just happened to go on my actual birthday.  We went to the Union and I had a chicken sandwich on toast and fries.  I have had a great day and feel very loved and spoiled!

New Year's Eve 2012

Troy and Judi always host the New Year's Eve Party.   It's our favorite place to be for this holiday. They do it in style with LOTS of food, drinks, games, and confetti.  We start at 6:30 pm and party until midnight or later.

We eat first, then it's on to the games!  Of course, we keep snacking all evening.

The kids were trying out the dancing games on the Wii.

The adults got in on the action as well.

Board games and cards make the time pass quickly.

Blake, Britta, Lauren, and Abbie are playing Monopoly Deal.

Vanessa showed Denya and I her scrapbooks.  They are really cute!

Getting ready to count down the final seconds of 2011! We always have lots of party gear to wear, horns to blow, and confetti to throw!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  Let the throwing begin!

It gets pretty wild and very noisy!

It lasts for about 10 minutes.

Then everyone helps clean up.  It doesn't take too long and it's all part of the fun.
Welcome 2012!
