Delwyn Gets a New Job

CJ Shepler worked with Delwyn a few years ago. Delwyn trained him, and then moved to a different program at Lockheed. CJ then took over what Delwyn had been doing. He talked to Delwyn during the summer and told him he had taken a new job at a company called General Atomics. Delwyn got on their website to see what kind of a company they were and saw a position for a Senior Power Electrical Engineer with a very good salary range. He applied and was hired with a 20 percent raise. He was able to retire from Lockheed and start drawing his pension. Today is his first day on the new job!

I was so very surprised by all of this!! He has spent his whole career at Lockheed and I expected him to finish it out there. Plus he doesn't like change much, and this is a big change!! But money talks, and lately he hasn't been feeling very appreciated or valued at Lockheed, and feels his input is passed over. Here's to a new start!

He brought home all his awards, I had no idea he had so many!!

I especially like this one that says Extraordinary Engineering Award, because yes, Delwyn is extraordinary! He is smart, talented, and very knowledgeable when it comes to engineering!

He's had these hanging up in his office all this time.

Paper weights for awards.

Patches for launches.

Delwyn has been a part of so many things!

So glad Lockheed and/or the government recognized all this hard work with certificates, plaques, and patches. It all takes a lot of dedication, many long hours of sometimes stressful work, and having to keep things confidential and not talking about what you are doing to your family or friends.

He got most of these goblets early on in his career. It's hard to read what they are for in the pictures, a variety of things, most of them say Defense Systems and Mission Success. I remember going to some fancy dinners when these goblets were presented.

Over the years Lockheed has also given us free tickets to Rockies games and Elitches. One year we got tickets to a Christmas lights exhibit at the Botanical Gardens that was really neat. Lockheed is good to their employees, and Delwyn has enjoyed working for them. He likes what he does and that's why he's going to continue working for a few more years, just at a different company, doing mostly the same things he has been doing. Good luck Delwyn!! Hope this new job continues to bring you happiness and fulfillment!

Delwyn's Birthday

It's Delwyn's birthday!! 63 years young!! We got this recipe from Ryan for a cake that uses pistachio pudding, and Delwyn really likes it. I asked him kind of cake he wanted, and he chose this. These cute girls are excited about candles and cake!

Thinking of a good wish, and ready to blow out those candles!

Wade and Kimberlea think of the best gifts! Delwyn always has spare change laying around, what could be better than a Broncos bank for such a big Broncos fan?

These cards from Claire and Millie are adorable!

He's a lucky Grandpa to have such sweet girls in his life!
Happy Birthday Delwyn! We all love you!

New Grandkid Pictures for the Wall

I really wanted some new pictures of the grandkids to put on the wall. It's been about a year, and the kids are all growing and changing. I wanted to hurry and get it done before it gets too cold or freezes and everything turns brown. So one Sunday I took some pictures in the back yard before dinner. They turned out pretty good!

Claire is 11 and in 5th grade.

Millie is 8 and in 3rd grade.

Maddie is almost 5, next month is her birthday!

Emma is 14 months old.

Dagny is 7 and in 2nd grade.

Lincoln is 6 and in 1st grade.

Calista is 3 1/2.

 Everlee is 20 months.

These cute kids mean the world to me!! Being a Grandma is the best! So glad they all live close and we get to share in their lives!

Claire's Birthday

We celebrated Claire's birthday at Grandma's Sunday Dinner the week after her birthday. I made a chocolate cake. I was slow getting her present ordered since I had been out of town for almost 2 weeks, and it didn't get here in time. So we had cake on Sunday,

and on Wednesday night we drove out to give her the present,

a kids fitness tracker! It counts your steps, the distance you walked, you can set an alarm, and it tells your sleep duration. It will also remind you to move if you sit too long, and remind you to drink water.

She was so excited she ran straight to the kitchen to plug it in. After just a few minutes it was charged enough that she could set it up and try it out! She ran around the house for a few minutes to get some steps.
I think she likes it!! Credit goes to Delwyn for the idea. It will be fun to compare steps with Claire and see who get the most.

We also gave her this dress and she tried it on so we could see how it looked. Cute!

Claire has been wanting some heels for church, so she got this pair of shoes from her parents. So glittery and pretty! She tried them on with the dress so we could see the whole outfit.
Happy 11th Birthday Claire!! You are getting so grown up! We love you!

Palmer Reunion

Palmer reunion time!! We got to Malad late Friday afternoon since we were just coming from Logan. Britta and Kade are coming and Ryan is bringing Adrienne. We are all staying in Blair's house. Wade and Kimberlea have been in Rexburg helping LeaMarie and K get ready for the next semester, so they are here too, sleeping in Blair's camper. And Denya will come Saturday, so we have a good representation of our family this year. We got dinner from the Pizza Stop and it was good!

We are always in charge of Saturday breakfast, and we made our traditional omelettes with made to order toppings. Kade, Ryan, and BJ served up some delicious eggs!

The girls were in charge of the pancakes.

Everything tastes so much better when you get to eat it outside!

Adrienne has fun with the kids, Calista loved a ride.

Ryan got his motorcycle license this summer and has fallen in love with riding. He really wanted a bike to ride in Logan, and the red bike he rode at home has a few little problems that made Delwyn uneasy at Ryan taking it so far from home. Delwyn found this one for sale in Idaho Falls and had Wayne and his boys check it out. It seemed fine, so they bought it for us, and Ryan is going to have it in Logan. He was so excited to see it and check it out, that he jumped up on the trailer before it was even unloaded. It's safe to say he loves it!! The guy who owned it took the baffles off, so it is rather loud, but that's a relatively easy fix.

Wade loves motocycles too, and rides the one we have at home to work quite often, especially in the summer. He was excited for Ryan and wanted to test out the bike.

It was really fun to have these cute girls and get to show off my grandkids. These little camping chairs are just their size.

This is the not the first time the crazy Palmers have tied a quilt outside.

Cheryl helps out. The goal is to get it done for the raffle. Everyone wants to win it!

This is a new way to tie quilts and I thought it was so cute that I took a picture so I could remember how to do it!

I had Adrienne braid my hair, and I loved the way it turned out!!

Lots of relaxing at this reunion.

Karalee has a craft every year, this time it's mini corn hole boards that we could paint. Adrienne is a great artist, and I know hers will be so impressive.

I have been so excited to see Kyler and Teiya's baby, Collins!! Of course I love her name! She is actually named after their mission president, which is how they met.

She is just so cute!

So many cats at the farm! Calista loved holding them and this one put up with her squishing it and petting it.

Norma and Calista playing with the cat!

Everlee wasn't as interested in the cats as her sister.

The men cooking 5 pounds of bacon and some sausage! It smelled so good!

Swedish pancake time! Tradition! It wouldn't be the Palmer reunion without them, and Lynae's family has it figured out. Izzy and Jenna get the batter all mixed up,

and Britnee and Kim do the cooking! They have to make sooo many pancakes to feed all of us!

These girls love the Cheetos!

More fun with the cats! Calista looks so much like Denya did when she was little. Maybe she gets her love of cats from Aunt Denya.

This cat is Tammy's and they keep her in their trailer, but they knew Denya would want to hold her, and they were right! Denya has loved cats ever since she was a little girl.

Kade's turn with the cat! This cat looks pretty relaxed. Better watch out Kade, she's going to be coming to you for some stomach rubbing.

Maybe the cat is waving to Britta?

Who is more relaxed--the cat or Kade?

Kim's family had some beads and this bunch was busy making bracelets.

Card games!

Zach is such a cutie! Helping Aubree with her cards.

Scones! Another Palmer reunion staple! Yum!

Doug and Karalee make the best Dutch oven lasagna! It takes a long time to cut up the onions, brown the meat, and assemble the lasagna to cook, but it is sooo worth it! And our mouths are thankful for their efforts!

They served corn on the cob with the lasagna, and Wade's girls had never had it before. Safe to say they LOVED it!

Everlee made sure she got every kernel! Sooo cute!

Calista wanted seconds after she finished hers, so she just started eating Wade's.

Ryan went on quite a few little rides this weekend, he's loving this new bike even if it is loud.

Denya wanted a ride, and Ryan was very happy to take her on one.

Look at this girl with her feet up, she knows how to chill and relax!

I'm living my best Grandma life with sweet Everlee on my lap giving me all the hugs!

Delwyn brought his 22 Sears rifle that he bought at the Tanner gun show many years ago because everyone loves to shoot it! Kade brought his pistol and they went down the hill to shoot. I didn't go, so Denya took some pictures for me.

Denya takes aim! It's hard to see the target in the picture,

so here's a close up. It's such a small target! They also shot some pop cans.

Look at this sharp shooter!

Adrienne tries her hand.

Go Britta! I'm glad they had a good time shooting. We have to take advantage when when we have a good place to shoot. Britta and Kade take his pistol and go in Logan Canyon, at home we have to pay and go to the indoor range.

Raffle time! Jacee and Clayl are in charge of drawing the tickets and holding up the items.

Adrienne won this pillow!

And Calista won this tub full of fun things. Everlee noticed the bubble wands right off and grabbed for them.

Cousin time is one of the best part of the reunion!
Another Palmer reunion is in the books! A great time was had by all, as always! Sure do love this family that I married into!
