It's Collins Reunion time again! A highlight of my summer, for sure! I think this is our fourth (or maybe third) time of coming of to Six Lakes. There's a lot to like about this place. I realized that I hadn't ever taken pictures of the cabins, so here's a couple. There are 5 cabins with two different setups. Some have two sets of bunk beds, some only have one and a fold out couch instead.
The main room has the bed, couch, and a small kitchenette. Wade and Kimberlea sleep out here.
Denya and I are in the bedroom. I sleep on the bottom and she'll be on the top tomorrow when she gets here. The bathroom is also inside the bedroom in this style of cabin.
There are some pretty wildflowers here.
The forecast for this weekend is chilly weather with wind. Grump! It was pretty chilly Friday morning and those who live in Roosevelt had heard that the Upper Stillwater Dam had a really big spillover, so we all drove up to see it since we really can't enjoy anything outside because it's too cold. The Dam did not disappoint! It was beautiful!
It was pretty crowded up there and we weren't sure we could park at the top, so we stopped by the side of the road and got out.
The wind was blowing like mad and it was pretty cold. We had a few drops of rain on the drive up here, but it was worth the cold to see such a beautiful sight!
We walked down to the bottom and Wade stuck his fingers in to see how cold it was. "Freezing!" he said.
We were able to park at the top, so we walked around a little bit. The water coming over the top was breathtaking!
This is right at the top before it goes over the dam.
The hair was blowing our hair all around. Not a very good photo moment.
So pretty! There's still snow on those mountains! I don't know if that's usually the case or not.
I was telling everyone about when we were here last Britta and Ryan and a few of the other kids walked out into the water. Not to be outdone, Wade took off his shoes and socks, rolled up his pants, and waded out. I remember Britta and Ryan saying how cold it was, and I bet it's even colder this year because of the late spring. Wade didn't stay out there very long. Silly silly!
Troy and his granddaughter Quinn. He is such a good grandpa, I saw him holding and playing with this grandkids a lot this weekend.
Krystal spends some time loving on Calista.
Mom and her newest great grandchild, Bexx Bertosh, who is about 3 weeks old. Morgan and Karson are his parents.
It was so fun to see Ashlie and Marty! They live in Los Vegas and I haven't seen them for quite some time. So glad they could come!
Gordon was always falling asleep in his chair. Must be related to Steven. Haha. Everyone was giving him a hard time about it.
We walked down to the lakes even though it was pretty chilly. Wayden was out in a canoe rowing all around the pond. Cold weather doesn't stop kids from having fun and doing what they want.
We stayed inside and played a lot of games and cards.
Duane's granddaughter Madison who is 12, taught us a new game called Cottage.
Denya, Mom, and Susan were also playing. I am excited to teach this game to Claire, I think she will love it.
Ellie and Raegan had a tea party. They were so cute!! I wish Dagny was here to play with them, they would have so much fun together.
Calista liked watching all the people.
Quinn and Calista make friends. Quinn is about a month older than Calista. It's fun to see the babies together.
Duane and Krystal have this amazing cotton candy machine. Duane is a pro at making huge ones.
They had some amazing flavors, like blue raspberry and banana.
Yum! Everyone loved it.
We were in charge of breakfast on Saturday. Wade made his famous omelets again this year. I love it because he does all the cooking and all I have to do is take orders. We had ham, sausage, onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. They were super good and he got lots of compliments on them.
Susan and family enjoying Wade's omelets.
This was my plate. Delicious!!
It wasn't quite as cold on Saturday, so Shane took Greyson down to the lake to fish. He was pretty excited! I hope he catches something.
Wade and Calista relax by the pool.
Some of the adults catch some sun.
The teenagers were the only ones brave enough to get in the pool, as it was still a little cool for swimming.
The hot tub was nice and warm and some of the adults and kids spent time splashing around in warmer water.
Layce and
Vanessa are such good moms and got in the hot tub with their kids.
By afternoon it was a tiny bit warmer and more people decided to try the pool. Still too cold for me.
Water babies!
Susan had this cute little floatie for Kaceton, and she got in for about 10 minutes to give it a try. Wade and Kimberlea have one for Calista and she has 2 swimming suits, but we didn't think it was warm enough for swimming.
Parker loves Great Grandma Collins!
Here's Troy loving on his grandkids again.
Kimberlea gave Calista a taste of her popsicle and boy, did she love that! She would stick her tongue out and lick and lick. She reminded me of a cat lapping up some milk. She couldn't get enough. It was so, so cute!

Gordon's family did street tacos for dinner. He's a good cook and we were not disappointed.
Complete with fresh limes for squeezing on our tacos.
Homemade root beer is always a winner!
We usually celebrate Denya's birthday at the reunion since her birthday will be in a few days. A journal, a long skinny notepad for making grocery lists, to do lists, or any list, and a new top.
Happy Birthday Denya!! We love you!! It will be her golden birthday this year, she will be 26 on June 26. I hope you celebrate big!
On the way home we stopped at one of the Glenwood Springs rest areas and walked around for a bit.
The water is really high this year and flowing so fast. Part of the bike path through Glenwood Canyon is flooded and closed. It was pretty to watch.
The weather got stormy as we approached Vail. The clouds were really low and it was foggy.
A little father down the road snow! Gulp!!
It's the end of June!! It's officially summer!! What's up with this?? The roads were just wet with snow on the sides and we make it home safely.
Another Collins Reunion is in the books! Hopefully Austin and Landon can come one of these times. It is so much fun! We still had a great time playing games, visiting, and eating all kinds of yummy food in spite of the chilly weekend. I'm thankful to be in the Collins family!
