Littleton Historical Museum

 On Saturday we went to the Littleton Historical Museum. It is an old farm where they do things the old fashioned way. Spring is always fun since there are baby animals. First stop was the donkeys. Next weekend they are going to hook them to a plow and get the ground ready for planting. I bet they'll be tired. They don't get a lot of exercise normally.

 

 The new grass is very tempting. This cow is reaching through the fence for a taste.

Claire needs a hand down and Ryan is her buddy.

 

In the barn the boys found old time pitch forks.  They might not be so enthusiastic if they really had to use them and work on a farm!

One more love on the kitty before we leave.  The farm makes us thankful for all the modern conveniences we  have!

Green Eggs and Ham for Breakfast!

 On Saturday, March 16, our ward had a green eggs and ham breakfast to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  The tables had these cute centerpieces.
 

Delwyn got into the spirit of the day by wearing this hat.  We have had it for a very long time.  I think Wade bought it when he was about 12.

 

Ryan said, "I do not like green eggs and ham!"  Not in a box, not with a fox, not in a house, not with a mouse.  I will not eat them here or there, I will not eat them anywhere!" And he didn't!  He just wouldn't believe they were regular eggs with food coloring.  He did eat some ham because it wasn't green, a biscuit with some honey, and some hash browns.

 

Blake, on the other hand, ate his up quickly.  Smart boy, because it was a delicious breakfast!

 



Britta saved hers for last, but she did eat them.

 

 The leprechauns hid gold coins for the kids to find.

 

And the hunt begins!  The primary kids were so excited and ran everywhere.  There were two areas, one for the younger kids and one for the older kids.

 I'm guessing there are some gold coins in those rocks!

 

Ryan made a good haul on the coins--being one of the older Primary kids gave him an advantage.  The green eggs and ham breakfast was a clever idea and we had a great time!  I have never eaten green eggs before, and they were very tasty.

Kimberlea's Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Kimberlea's birthday today after church.  We had steak and scalloped potatoes for dinner and Wade made this red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Yum!

 



 She blew out all the candles, so her wish will come true!

 She got this beautiful jewelry from her parents.  He family makes jewelry and they are really good at it.

 

She got a new wax burning pot.  She already has one and the basement always smells so good!  She also got some new scents to burn in it. Blackbery lemonade is going to be good!

Kimberlea is shoe girl and these boots made her very happy.

 



Kimberlea has been wanting some throw pillows for their bed.  She got a red comforter for Christmas and wanted some pillows to go with it.  They shopped for some  decorative pillows, but couldn't find any they liked that were affordable, so Wade made these.  Kimberlea couldn't believe Wade made them!  They have red piping around the edges and look great.  She was very suprised and happy to get these pillows.  There are two red ones and one white lacey one,.   They will look so cute on their bed.  Happy Birthday Kimberlea! 

Trip to Carrollton

 

 

 Claire is now my best friend!  Nothing like Braum's ice cream to win a girl's heart!  We had strawberry cheese cake and peanut butter cup.  Yum!

 Claire is very independent and wants to feed herself.  She loves cereal, especially Honey Nut Cheerios.

 

 Grandpa bought Claire a treat..a bag of teddy grahams!  She was very good about sharing them with him and thought it was great fun to feed him.

 

 

Melissa and I went to a book sale.  They have one every year as a fundraiser for the schools.  Some books are donated and some are discarded from the library.  Hardbacks were $1.00 and paperbacks were 50 cents. What a deal!  There were tables and tables and tables of books--I was in heaven! A lot of them looked brand new. Some hardbacks still had the paper covers on them with no rips or worn edges.  Some of them didn't look like they had even been opened. There were all kinds of books, picture books for kids, beginning chapter books, books for young adults, all kinds of fiction, cook books, exercise and fitness books, and even encyclopedia sets.We were there for a couple of hours.  I bought 17 books for $12.00!!

 

 Here is a sample of the books I bought.  I bought 2 books for Claire and gave Melissa 5, and that left me 10 books to get into my suitcase. They barely fit. I love cookbooks and was exited to buy one that a church made. Those are the best! They have easy recipes using ordinary ingredients.  Maybe it's a good thing I don't live here, I would have bought enough books to fill a bookcase!  I told Melissa I want to come for a visit every year at this time so we can go to the book sale!

 

Claire is a true Palmer girl--she loves to read! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite Disney movie, and I couldn't resist buying a board book version for Claire.  She seemed to really love it.  She always chose it first and spent a lot of time looking at it while we were there.

 

 

 

 

 

 Claire is a very happy girl and laughs a lot.  She is still very wiggly and getting a picture of her is challenging because she is always moving.
 

She has enough hair for a ponytail now, but she won't leave it in for very long. Silly Claire--don't you know how cute it is?

 

 Grandpa thought Claire might be ready for a nap--but she had other ideas.

All of the light switches and plug ins are dark brown.  Austin and Melissa have painted all the walls a light color and wanted to change the outlets to white ones.  A good project to get Dad's help with.

Claire didn't want to sit for very long, but I did manage to get a quick picture.

 

Claire's favorite thing was to climb on everything!  She was just happy to go up and down the stairs and platforms.

Claire thinks she is big enough to play on all the equipment.  She knew just what to do and how to hang on.

Her friends from church had this little truck at the park, and she loved to ride on it.

Some people from Melissa's ward were at the park with their dog.  Claire was very interested.  She wanted to pet him, but was a little shy at first.  She gradually warmed up and then she thought he was great fun.


Melissa's daffodils are blooming!  They are so nice and look like spring.  I had to enjoy them while were here, we went home to 17 degrees and snow!
