Halloween Fun

Trunk or Treat was on a Saturday at 3:30 in the afternoon, which was quite different from the chili cook offs we have had the past few years. The youth were in charge of some carnival games and everything was outside. It was a really nice day and it was a lot more fun than I originally thought it would be.

Delwyn and I really wanted to get new costumes this year. We thought for a long time, and Delwyn came up with idea to be Kristoff and Anna from Frozen. We found these costumes on Amazon, and they were perfect!! We got so many compliments! Wigs are such great accessories and really make the costume.

Lincoln was Link from The Legend of Zelda video game and Landon dressed up as a Day of the Dead musician, which was perfect for him. I thought he looked amazing!!

Dagny was the Pokemon character Eevee. She is showing off the cupcake she won at the Cake Walk.

Abigail Jameson and I had the same costume!! Of course we had to get a picture.

Calista was Elsa from Frozen 2, and

this cute little monster is Boo from the movie Monsters, Inc. aka Everlee. I didn't get any pictures of the kids playing games or trunk or treating, but it was a fun event for sure.

Blake loved all the holidays, and I miss him a little more on these days.

Our third Palmer Halloween Party was hosted by me this year. We ended up having it on a Sunday before family dinner because we couldn't find a time when everyone could come. Some of the grandkids are playing soccer, Wade has been required to work a few Saturdays, we are busy people!! First up is family pictures of all the costumes! It takes longer than you would think to get all dressed up in a costume, wigs, makeup! And I was so surprised that Delwyn shaved to look even more in character!

Austin's family is looking good! Claire is a zombie cheerleader, Millie is a cute puppy, Maddie is a vampire, Melissa is a witch, and

Austin is Willy Wonka!! He nailed it!! Complete with top hat, purple tails, and a cane! And he also shaved to stay in character!! The Palmer men love their facial hair, so you know it's a big deal with they shave for Halloween!

Wade and Kimberlea were characters from the show Witcher, which I have never heard of or watched, but they looked amazing!

Wade has always loved Halloween, and his family goes all out on their costumes.

These two girls are adorable!!

Landon kids get so excited about Halloween and start talking about what they want to be months in advance. They had their costumes bought and ready the first part of September. Landon had to hide their costumes so they wouldn't wear them out before Halloween! Haha.

Face paint is another thing that makes all the difference in costumes. I'm not sure I would recognize Landon if I didn't know what he was dressing up as.
All the costumes were especially good this year and it's a good thing we don't have a costume contest because I don't know how we would ever be able to choose a winner!

Calista loved that Grandma and Grandpa were from the same movie she was.

Lincoln was excited there were so many swords, and was thrilled to have a battle.

They didn't get enough sword fighting outside, so they had to do a little more in the house.

Our first activity was build a skeleton. Depending on the number you roll on the dice, you get a body part and the first one to complete their skeleton wins!

It was Millie!!

Lincoln came in a very close second!

Next up Pin the Mouth on the Ghost.

Toss the ghost into the bucket was fun game.

Dagny got all her ghosts in the bucket and was so proud of herself!!

Halloween Bingo--tradition!!

I had some Halloween coloring pages for the kids.

It wouldn't be a Halloween party without sugar cookies to decorate.

These kids love to pile on the toppings! I think Dagny has more sprinkles and candy than she does cookie!

Millie's masterpiece.

Everlee was happy to eat a cookie.
These Palmer Halloween parties are one of my favorite traditions
during the year. We take Halloween very seriously and a lot of thought goes into the costumes. I'm so glad all my kids love Halloween!

October Snow Storm

The first snowfall of the season is here! Dagny was home from school with the sniffles, not very sick, and she and Calista begged and begged to go outside and play, so I finally said yes!

They both had snow boots and winter coats, but no gloves. I had some little knit gloves I gave them, but they are not waterproof and I think their hands will get cold fast. So much fun to just walk around in the snow and make footprints.

They decided to have a snowball fight. Dagny is ready, one, two,

three, and throw!! Run Calista!

Dagny was amazed at the big chunk of snow she picked up. It wasn't a ball, just a big piece that stayed together. It was really wet snow, so it stuck together easily.

Calista wanted a big piece of snow too. These two girls had a great time together in the snow!

Grandkid Soccer

Claire, Dagny, and Lincoln all played soccer this fall, so we went to a few of each of their games.

Claire's team is the Plum Dragons. It was really fun to watch her age group. They have learned how to play positions now and they stay in their spot instead of everybody running for the ball all the time. Today Claire was playing in the back field. She was good at keeping an eye on the ball and being ready when it came to her.

Go Claire!

After the game snacks! A reward for lots of running and a good game!

Dagny and Lincoln are playing with the i9 Sports program and all of their games are in Parker on Saturdays. They practice and then play a game, which can be nice for parents since it's only a one day a week commitment.

Dagny loved to be the goalie and played that position most of the time.

The goalie stays pretty busy. Besides guarding the net area, she also kicks the ball back into play when it goes out of bounds.

Dagny was always paying attention and was ready when the ball came her way.

Good game handshakes when the game is over.

Lincoln is ready for his game! Most of the times their games were back to back, which was nice. It makes for a long time at the soccer field when you are watching two kids practice and then have a game, and if there is an hour break in between games, it seems like the whole day was spent watching soccer.

The kids wanted me to see their numbers. Their jerseys are reversable, depending on if they are the home team or not.

They are just sooo cute!! I hope they always stay best friends and support each other like this.

Dagny is just hanging out with her show pad while Lincoln practices.

Lincoln is a fast runner and he goes after the ball.

He's ready to block the ball.

All the soccer gear (water bottles, jackets, chairs, snacks, showpads, plus two children) makes a full wagonload!

It's so much fun to watch the grandkids play sports! I'm so glad we live close and can be part of their everyday lives and activities. Yay for soccer!
