Denya heard about the Color Run, a 5K for charity, and she talked Britta into running it with her. The race is held in different locations throughout the US, and this one was in Fountain, just below Colorado Springs. The entrance fee was $40 and the money goes to those who lost their homes this summer in the Waldo Canyon Fires. As you run, colored chalk is thrown at you and by the end of the race, you are quite colorful!
Here's how they looked at the start... nice and clean...
Several thousand people were participating. They go in waves. Denya and Britta were in the third wave. Lining up and getting ready to start.
The starting line. This is not a timed race, it is just for fun. They advertise you can walk, skip, cartwheel, crawl, or whatever! Just make it to the finish line!
Spectators and fans. There weren't a lot of spectators, most people were participating as families. Women were pushing strollers, and men had kids on their shoulders. Ryan thought it looked fun and wished he was running. Go Denya and Britta!
And they're off!
Ryan waits with his bag of colored chalk to throw on his favorite runners.
Puff.. Here she is--very purple!
At the end the runners all get together and all throw their chalk. It makes quite a cloud.
Dirty sisters at the end of the race.
Even their hair was very colorful!
They both finished in good spirits.
The final results.
Not sure that I want to let you in my car. Good thing they warned us to bring towels to sit on!
