DC Signs for Seniors

We have the best school and the best community! Not sure who made these signs for the seniors, but it sure helps to make up for all they are missing out on right now. Thank you!

I was out on a walk and saw this sign on the fence at the high school. I loved it so much I just had to take a picture. No one can say these kids can't do hard things. Just for fun I looked up the definition of resilient and it said, "able to withstand or recover quickly from difficult conditions." They have missed out on so many traditional things, but from what I've seen they have a positive attitude and will bounce right back into life ready for whatever the future brings to them. Not to say there hasn't been a few tears and some grumping, but that is allowed and even expected in this difficult time. This class will persevere and do amazing things with their lives.

Hiking With Landon

Landon had the day off, so we decided to take the kids on a little hike at Castlewood Canyon.  I love to hike, so I was pretty excited.

We saw this rock with a big hole in it,

there were some beautiful flowers, 

and lots of trees.

Dagny loved all the big rocks,

and Lincoln thought it was fun to try to push the rocks apart.

Even the grown ups liked climbing around on the rocks.

Dagny found a chair made of rock, and it was just her size!

The kids needed a little break now and then, and there were lots of rocks perfect for sitting on.

We saw a little waterfall!

Landon walked over the to the edge to look down and the kids kept telling him to get away from the edge. I guess we need to be better example of doing what we tell them to do. Haha!

Our snack break got a thumbs up from Lincoln.

When Landon got the snacks out of his backpack, Dagny remembered that she wanted to bring Ariel. Landon is such a good dad and he packed Ariel with the snacks and water bottles.

After that she carried Ariel herself for the rest of the hike. Girls love their dolls!

There was a spot on our hike where there was a tiny trickle of water running through the rocks. Of course the kids wanted to put their hands in it and they said it was pretty chilly.

Time for another break and this was a great rock to lay on.

Dagny found a little rock that someone had painted hearts on. Hiding painted rocks out in nature for others to find is a new thing. She loved it so much and we let her take it home. I'm not sure if that's okay or if you are supposed to leave them there, but  we decided it wasn't that big of a deal and so we let her keep it because she was so excited about it.

Austin's Birthday

Happy Birthday Austin! Another year has gone by just like that, and it's hard to believe my oldest is now 35! How can I be old enough to have a son that old? The years go by quickly and I feel like I should only be 45 or so. 

Austin is kind, loving, and thoughtful. And is just so much fun to be around! You can count on a lot of laughing when you spend time with him. 

Austin loves tacos!!! He says he could eat them everyday! So we had chicken tacos with rice and black beans for dinner. Thirty five is a three and a five, and 3+5=8, so we gave him 8 candles. Makes sense, right?

A Cars birthday card that talks about wheels,

and we made that bike wheels since we are giving him money to buy a bike! He mentioned a few weeks ago that he would like one, so happy pedaling! Happy Birthday! A mom couldn't ask for a better son! I am blessed!

Road Repair

We got a note on the door that the Town was going to redo the cul-de-sac. It was quite the process and we enjoyed watching it each day. They had a machine that chewed up the asphalt into very fine pieces and mixed it in with the dirt. They moved a lot of the dirt around and made big piles. Dagny and Lincoln wished they go could go mountain climbing on it.

It was fun to watch them dump big loads of dirt into the trucks. I wondered how long it takes a driver to learn how to dump without spilling some or all of it. 

They dug a big hole for something.

Then they started smoothing out the dirt. We sat outside on the curb and watched for about half an hour. Lincoln especially liked it and said he wanted to be a construction worker and drive big trucks.

Finally replacing the asphalt. They did a circle at a time and it took 3 or 4 rounds to get it all done. I thought it would smell really bad, but there was only a small odor to it. Maybe they use different materials now.

All done! It took all week, and now it's so nice and smooth. The kids can hardly wait to ride their bikes on it. 

Heart Attack!

I went to get the mail today and saw this on the door! I was very surprised and felt very loved.

With all the Covid restrictions like social distancing and living in quarantine, my ministering sister Liz and her daughter Ruth got creative in making me feel loved. We usually go to lunch about every other month on one of Delwyn's off Fridays so he can watch the kids. This heart attack was such a fun idea!

Their comments were so sweet and made me feel so good.  They are the best!

Of course Dagny loved all the hearts and wanted to have her picture taken too. Thanks Liz and Ruth for making my day!

Easter Sunday

The Easter Bunny is ready with baskets for Britta and Ryan. He is bringing Britta a coupon for some summer sandals and Ryan is getting kitchen utensils for college. Ryan, I promise we aren't kicking you out even though everything you get lately makes it seem like that!

Britta gave an amazing Easter lesson with a power point presentation about the Crucifixion. Trials to come to all and are never easy, but Christ doesn't leave anyone to suffer alone.We also talked about the Atonement and how it applies to all of us.

Even though there were no Easter dresses or ties this year, I still wanted to take some pictures of us.

It is snowing outside today! What?!! Easter is all about spring! But we all know spring in Colorado always includes some snow, so inside pictures it is!

Ryan is so tall and handsome!

Melissa has her hands full helping Claire and Millie do on-line school since all schools are closed because of COVID-19, but she found the time to make matching skirts for the girls. They are adorable and the pastels colors are so spring like!

Melissa even made a matching bow tie for Austin!

No Easter egg hunting outside this year!

This is the next best thing! It takes the kids a couple of minutes to hunt eggs outside, it will probably only take a couple of seconds inside, but it will still be FUN!

Maddie went first, the others were right behind her snatching up eggs as fast as they could.

Ten eggs for each child. Claire had all of hers first.

Melissa said they could have 3 candies, trying to decide which 3 is quite a process.

I had a little present for each of the kids. Some summer clothes, and

a Lego set! They make the cutest Legos for girls now--little princesses, purple and pink vehicles, and animals. There are Lego Jr. sets which only have about 60 pieces and are supposedly easier to put together.

Millie's was a girl with a jeep, a puppy, and some vet supplies to take care of the pet.

Lincoln's was a policeman, with a car, and a burglar with a bag of gold. How cute is that??

We got some new Easter decorations for Blake this year. Happy Easter in heaven!

Coloring eggs and Easter baskets full of candy are fun, and I am so grateful for the true meaning of Easter. I'm thankful for Jesus Christ and his willingness to take on all the sins, suffering, and hurt that will will experience so He will know how to help and comfort us. I'm excited to be resurrected and live forever with my loved ones and my Heavenly Father. Easter is indeed a happy time.
