Covid really messed up high school sports. The swim season didn't start until April 26 and went through June 26, with the State Meet on July 6. Profe told us it made for a tough season with practice and meets still happening after school had ended. Families had vacations planned, kids had jobs, some seniors had future plans that started right away.
The banquet was held at the MAC and it was very sunny and quite breezy. The dinner was catered from Panda Express, so I didn't eat any. I'm not a fan of Asian food for anyone that didn't know.
Shane Crawford was the only senior on the team this year and we wondered if he would get Blake's award. He did! He is a fabulous swimmer who swims competitively on the Rock Team and he has gone to state every year, so he certainly deserves it. Profe called Ryan up to help present the award, which was so nice. Profe talks about Blake, how he was a friend to all and promoted unity on the team. This award goes to someone who exemplifies these same qualities.
I was excited that someone we know got the award. I know Shane's mom, Linda Crawford, from Institute. He has a sister, Eve, that is Britta's age, and Norma Crawford, his grandma, was in our ward for several years.
