Austin's kids spent the night in January when he had a gum graft, and I kept Calista one night when Wade wasn't going to be home until late, and Landon jokingly asked, "When is it going to be my kids' turn?" So a couple of days later, we made it happen! I love having the grandkids spend the night. My kids never got the chance to spend the night at their grandparents without the parents being there too since it was so far away, so I love being able to do this.
Friday afternoon we went for a walk. It was little chilly, but not too bad. We have walked to what we call the Resting Rock quite a few times since Delwyn's surgery, and the kids love to do it. Quite often they want to go for a walk, but it all depends on the weather. Being the big kid that he is, Delwyn started a snowball fight.
Dagny was pretty good at defending herself.
It didn't last long since no one had gloves on. We were planning on a walk when we left the house, not a snowball fight. I put Dagny's hand in my pocket to warm it up.
Lincoln loves sticks and has to pick up everyone he sees. This was more like a branch! Thank goodness he threw it down pretty quickly!

We decided to walk through the shortcut, over to the High School, and through the alley back home. Lincoln found a huge chunk of snow in the alley and carried it until his hands got too cold, then I put his hand in my pocket to warm it up. Lesson for Grandma: Bring gloves on walks in the winter because kids will want to play in the snow!
When we got home I gave the kids some coloring kits that I had bought. They came with magic markers. They don't show up on white paper, only on this special blue paper. Dagny's markers were shimmery and sparkled with mermaid pictures.
Lincoln's were neon markers with animal pictures. He has never been very interested in coloring and had more fun trying to stack the markers than he did coloring.
Lincoln does like to draw on the white board and he made this picture of him and Megan playing beach ball.
Dagny and Lincoln had seen the air mattresses when Austin's kids slept over, and they were SO excited to have a turn to sleep on them. About 6:00 pm as soon as it was getting dark, Dagny started telling me it was getting past their bed time and they should be going to sleep. Haha! I managed to stall them off until 7:30 pm. Dagny said she needed to do some yoga to get relaxed before she went to bed.
And of course Lincoln does everything Dagny does, except his yoga was full of wiggles.
Into their sleeping bags, two bedtime stories, and a night light and
they were ready for bed!
Until Dagny decided she needed a stuffed animal to sleep with. They went to sleep pretty quickly and had a great night until Dagny fell off her air mattress at 4 am, but she didn't cry or wake Lincoln up, just came upstairs to find me. She was asleep again in the blink of an eye. In the morning Dagny thanked me for letting them sleep over and thanked me for letting them sleep on the air mattresses. It was just so sweet! Pancakes for breakfast and Landon picked them up at 11am. Another fun sleepover with the grandkids!
