Dutch Oven Cook Off

Delwyn and I have been Roundtable Commissioners for 3 years and this is our last month. Every June  the Pioneer Trails District has a Dutch Oven Cook Off for their June meeting. This is our third and final time to be in charge. Everyone who would like to participate brings something and cooks it in the parking lot, then we all have dinner together.

There are prizes for first, second, and third places for a main dish and a dessert. We (actually Delwyn) have won first place the last two years with lasagna and jumbalaya. This year he is making cashew chicken.

Garrett Byrd is from the Council office and he attends our Roundtable each month. He is making some brownies. Joy Hawkins is the person who is over us and is the boss (person in charge) of all the Roundtable staff.

The Order of the Arrow boys and leaders usually make a couple of dishes.

It is starting to smell good!

The Franktown firemen are the judges. This year's winner was a chicken dish topped with gravy and biscuits! It was really good, but I think Delwyn was a tad disappointed that we didn't place this year. Maybe it's a good thing or people might think we were bribing the judges! Haha!

The desserts are always my favorite, of course! The cobblers win out over the brownies! Prizes were a camping chair, a dutch oven bag to store the pot in, and other dutch oven cooking supplies.
