Every spring the Castle Rock Stake hosts a Teacher Appreciation night where seniors nominate a teacher to be honored for their influence and example. The teachers are given a plaque with a picture of the student on it. The students write a paragraph on how the teacher helped them and it is put on the back of the plaque. They have a speaker and a dessert bar. It is a really nice evening.
This was Britta's eighth grade math teacher! She was happy to see him. Mr. Mosby is now a principal and was at Teacher Appreciation representing his school. She told me that his class was one of her favorites, most of her best friends were in that class and sometimes they would have to do their classwork in the halls because they would get too loud, too silly, and so he would kick them out.
This is Ken Borgsmiller, he taught Britta in Journalism and Yearbook. He was also her track and cross country coach off and on throughout all four years.
Britta says Borgs is a prankster. In yearbook, you have to finish the layouts for the page at a certain time. Britta and her partner didn't have theirs finished, it was supposed to be the boys basketball team.
As a prank they put pictures of Borgs and silly quotes he said. They told him it was done and he could check it and send it in. The next day Borgs texted them and told them that he sent it in without checking it. Once you send it in, you can't get it back. The page of silly pictures that weren't supposed to be there was going to be in the yearbook! Britta got so scared she would get in trouble and ruin the yearbook that she left the class she was in and ran to Borgsmiller's classroom crying. He just started laughing and said it was a prank! He didn't put the page in but definitely scared her so good! All's fun that ends fun, she is thankful for such a great teacher who has a sense of humor.
