About two weeks before school starts, the Marching Band has a Band Camp. It lasts all day, from 9 am to 9 pm. It is pretty intense. They practice in the parking lot during the morning, go inside during the hottest part of the afternoon, and then back outside again about 5 pm. They take a lunch and the Band Boosters provide and serve dinner. I love this picture, Ryan has such a big smile and looks so happy. He loves music and drumming!
On the last day, they end at 5 pm. The parents use their student's instrument and the kids give us a quick lesson on how to march. It's complicated!! Putting your feet in the right spot, going from heel to toe, playing your instrument at the same time, yikes!! Plus that drum is heavy! But it was fun to give it a try and see how much our kids have learned.
Being silly and having fun!
I thought the drum line was heading back to the school to put away their instruments to get ready to eat, but
SURPRISE! They played some music for us to enjoy while we ate. They are sounding great and are off to a good start to the fall season!
